Today I have been mainly working on the music video project. I spent today scanning in my “fall” cycle I drew up yesterday , taking my drawings into photoshop to ensure the sizes and dimensions matched each other. So when it comes to putting them into an animated sequence they play smoothly. I then, from the drawings I had up loaded , drew some more simple poses of the bodies in fighting/grabbing positions which I plan to use in a sequence of the bodies pulling on the main characters to signify a struggle. I then printed off all the cycles which I plan to stick to card and mean to make stand up and use like card board cut outs. I will be using them along side of my 3d characters ( not computorized but 3d as in physical 3d object rather than the 2d card)
Creativity is such a weird thing, the word create its self means to make something out of nothing. something thing that sounds impossible. I’ve heard it said that nowadays its almost impossible to come across a new thought , a new idea. apparently because all idea’s are whether consciously or unconsciously are inspired by another idea, something ,we’ve seen or heard before. But does inspiration make an idea any less original? Then who came up with the original idea? is there just a long line of people who were inspired by someone who inspired someone else who inspired someone else. Right at the beginning that means is there an original creator ? some one or something who started it all off with a big explosion of creativity. To me as a christian the answer seems to be yes . and this is not really a blog to change your mind , on whatever your religious belief is , this is mealy my own thought process going as I write. being both a creative person and a christian seem to go hand in had and makes a lot of sense to me , and to me there seems like there is a strong link between first creativity and spirituality and second creativity and the gospel. i’m planning to use the creative and spiritual catogry part of my blog to explore my own thoughts.
maybe in a way creativity like bridges the gap between faith and science , I’m no scientist , I know there are lots of scientist people some who try and prove that there is a God with science and some who try to disprove God with science. i’m sure there are lots of good reasons on both sides but would say science and spirituality don’t really match each other ( thats an argument for someone else to figure out. but if you bring creativity into the equation it gets on very well with the christian faith and science – right from the word go the bible is talking about creativity. and i don’t think creativity can be scientifically explained but when looking at something that has been created it can be traced back to a creative process which shows you how the product was produced and came about , to me that seems kind of similar to the way a science experiment is carried out like you test something find out what its made out of ,how it was formed. maybe that does explain creativity scientifically I don’t know you’d have to ask a scientist
ok so i have now worked out how to insert pictures into posts. woo go me!. wasn’t really that hard just had to look in the right place. so here is a before and after pic of my garden crocs. remember you can always find more pictures on my website
As mentioned in an earlier post “hope she sleeps tonight” is the name of a song I’m doing a music video for a band I have been in contact with, after my crocodile antics today I have been working out some fall cycles ( like a walk cycle but for someone falling ) I’ve also designed part of a set which I need to print out. The idea is that its going to be like a magazine cover with some animated bodies falling out of a mirror ( yes , its another strange project- I seem to do a lot of those ) I’m hoping to be able to do some animating for it next week which will be great.
Today started off with the finishing of my power points and team sheet – basically its a sheet where I write the names of the people in my team and their roles on the team. so far I have 2 people including myself but hopefully this should get bigger once I’ve done my presentation to the second years on Tuesday. Then after completing the more mundane tasks of the day I set to work on project crocodile. I took my two large croc heads into the garden to paint with a combination of liquid latex, a kind of greenish paint and some hay and sawdust. this made a great texture for the crocodiles skin. Hopefully it will look just as good once its all dry. So yeah I currently have two large crocodile heads drying in my garden, which looks pretty awesome when you look out the window. was quite amusing explaining it to my landlord when he came round to show some possible tenants for next year around our house. The tour started with my bedroom , to which ( according to my house mate ) he introduced as Abi’s zoo,( too be fair i do have 4 gerbils and a rabit ) and then he came round to find me painting large crocodile heads in the back garden. good stuff
so this is the blog entry for yesterday for what i did after posting my first post. firstly i glued small thin chucks of styrofoam on to the tops of my two large crocodiles, i say chunks more like long thin strips, if you get me to create a nice croc texture. so they are now dry and ready for painting. i then worked on two power point presentations that need to be completed one is a sort of reflection for last semester so we have to talk through our last project. basically just saying what went well , what didn’t go so well what we would change – that sort of thing. the second was a bit more exciting as it is all about my crocodile project and showing previous work but not writing about it- like playing some of my films ect this one is for next week its a presentation i do to the second years to hopefully grab some of there attention so they will want to work on this croc project with me. I’m planning on walking in with all 3 croc heads (which should be finished by then) which should grab some attention as the biggest ones are about a meter long. – bit hard to miss!
